Not Your Typical High School Musical Debut

(PRWEB) June 30, 2009 -- Most Likely To: The Senior Superlative Musical will showcase this summer from August 6-9 in New York City at Manhattan's historic Players Theatre, original home to Psycho Beach Party and Ruthless (which starred an 8-yr old Britney Spears).

With schools and regional theatres looking for alternatives to "Grease" or "High School Musical (http://www.broadwayclubhouse.com/)" compounded by the daunting challenge in finding suitable comic monologues for auditions, New York playwright, composer and drama mentor Michael Tester has created his own solution in Most Likely To: The Senior Superlative Musical, which showcases the true-to-life musings of high school students labeled "most likely to …" by classmates.

Inspired by students at LIHSA (http://www.broadwayclubhouse.com/): Nassau Boces Long Island High School for the Arts, Most Likely To (http://www.broadwayclubhouse.com/) employs a senior superlative ceremony as its unifying arc in showcasing the seriocomic musings of students labeled everything from Most Popular to Class Clown -- a title Tester was crowned in high school. Original songs include "Emo Spelled Backwards (is Oh Me)," "I am. O.C.D. Over You," and "Ode to the Drama Queen," as sung by disenfranchised members of the Thespian Society (http://www.broadwayclubhouse.com/) and Glee (http://www.broadwayclubhouse.com/) Club.

"With many theatre programs requiring prospective students to prepare age-appropriate pieces, and most public school administrations wary of the very material their pupils have a passion for, young artists are often caught between the First Amendment and The Drama Police, Most Likely To seeks to bridge that gap with a playful musical for the teenager in all of us.

MOST LIKELY TO features an all-teen company including the return of original Dramatist Guild Workshop cast members Andrew J. Beck, Dee Brown, Alex Greif, Katherine Hoffmann, Lyle Colby Mackston, Melissa Rapelje, Lauren Renner, Sarah Sixt, Joe Wegmann and Jesse Zeidman, joined by Gina Marie Bilardi, Samantha Chastain and Christopher Hlinka.

Michael Tester is the creator of The Pirate Musical! (Baker's Plays), The Mummy Musical (Dramatic Publishing) and Hollywood Exposed! (Actors Playhouse, Miami). He served as an original co-author of the long running Off-Broadway show The Awesome 80s Prom (http://www.broadwayclubhouse.com/) (winner National Interactive Show of the Year). HBO films has praised his "original comic voice," and The New York Times, his development as a "major humorist."

Most Likely To: The Senior Superlative Musical will showcase at The Players Theater, 115 MacDougal Street, NYC on August 6, 7, 8, 9 @ 8pm, August 8 & 9 @ 3pm 2009, under the direction of Abbe Gail Gross with original casting by Daryl Eisenberg.
